Abstract

Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the renal pelvis is an uncommon tumor typically linked to chronic renal stone disease. This tumor is inherently aggressive and generally associated with a poor prognosis. We present a case involving a patient with retroperitoneal descending colon perforation in advanced squamous cell carcinoma of kidney probably secondary to radiation. Radiation-induced gastrointestinal perforation necessitates emergency surgery, and there is a lack of high-quality evidence to support the effectiveness of any preventive measures. In this review, we provide an overview of the clinical manifestations, risk factors, mechanisms, and treatments associated with radiation-induced gastrointestinal perforation. A thorough treatment plan is essential for enhancing the quality of life for cancer survivors.
